최근 2005년 11월에 내한했던 킹스싱어즈....
그 오랜 연륜 속에서도 결코 자만하지 않는 그들의 겸손함,
언제나 관객을 최대한 배려하는 친절함이 있다. 놀라운 실력은
그들의 겸손과 친절 위에 얹혀져 있기에 더욱 큰 감동을
선사하는 요소가 되는 것이라 생각한다.

세계적인 뮤지션들이 한국을 찾을 때 마다 자주 콘서트에
가지만, 그들 대부분에게서 느끼는 가장 큰 공통점이 있다면
그것은 바로 겸손과 열정이다. 

King's Singers는 1968년 케임브리지 대학의 킹스 컬리지에서
처음 결성된 후, 남성 중창단으로서 독특하고 개성적인 사운드를
창조해 내며 국가와 인종을 초월해 전세계에 걸쳐 수많은 팬들을
보유하고 있는 금세기 최고의 중창단이다. 

민요, 팝, 클래식, 성가 할 것 없이 모든 장르의 음악을 섭렵
하며 나름대로의 방식으로 편곡해 완벽히 소화해 내는 왕성한
소화력을 가지고 있는 그들은, 어떠한 곡이라도 목소리를 통해
전혀 다른 새로운 곡으로 재창조해 내곤 한다. 

그러면서도 그들의 음악에 일관되게 흐르고 있는 것은 따뜻한
인간애 즉, 휴머니티라 할 수 있는데 이들의 이러한 음악적
경향은 최근 크게 각광받았던 언플러그드나 아카펠라 음악의 붐
조성에도 크게 일조 했다고 볼 수 있다.
