죄인을 부르는 찬송 중에서 가장 훌륭한 이 찬송은
오하이오의 시인이라 일컬어지는 "윌 톰프슨"이 지었다
무디가 병실에서 임종을 맞고 있을 때 마침 방문한 
톰프슨은 그에게 손을 잡힌 채 
"윌~ 당신이 쓴 그 찬송(예수가 우리를 부르는 소리)은
내가 일생을 바쳐 했던 일보다 더 큰 일이오!"라는 말을 
들었다고 한다.이 찬송은 시와 곡을 쓴 톰프슨의 이름을 
그대로 쓰고 있으며 "승리의 찬송집"에 처음 실렸다.
